Men are starved for appreciation. No man is going to come right out and say it, so you’re really going to have to take my word for it. In relationships, women mostly want to feel loved and understood. What men want most is to be appreciated and respected. Rather than focusing on what your man isn’t doing, try to hone in on the good things he is doing (there have to be some).
Why would anybody even mention this?!…that people shouldn’t look for perfection. This is so obvious and I doubt anyone does it , at least not as often that it should be constantly put in the first place as the main reason for dating disasters. It’s a well rehearsed cliche. I feel it’s always used by people who are unable to say anything useful.
“It was interesting to see that it wasn’t all men who were conflating love with sex—it was just the short-term-oriented men,” says Ackerman. “There are different kinds of men and they mean different kinds of things when they’re communicating love.”
Don’t change anything. You’re now in the honeymoon period, where you have some time to get used to each other. This is the time that you do the cute things of the relationship. Come up with a song together that you can label as “Our song.” Some great ones can be “I could not ask for more” by Edwin McCain, “Something Coming Over”, by O.A.R., “Breathing”, by Lifehouse, “Amazed”, by Lonestar. These are only examples, you can choose yourself, this is just a guide for what you should look for. Also, if you have a band you both mutually are really into, try to choose a song by that band. Make sure to read the lyrics and understand the song before you pick though. Some songs can be deceiving with their meanings.
Curves: Men love curves. As Rashmi Rao mentioned in one of her answers, they are programmed to respond to softness of a woman’s body and demeanor in this sharp-edged world, and contrary to popular belief they are very much in love with the bothering love handles or embarrassing thighs. They don’t judge when they see curves. Period.
It also rang true that we tend to attract someone when not interested in them because we’re being our authentic selves – so how do we replicate that comfortable inner state & natural outer state so we can be our best, authentic selves when interacting with someone we are attracted to? How can we communicate that quickly, when we may have a few hours, minutes, seconds even to inspire a guy to pursue us? This book gives basic tips on how to do that.
There’s plenty of resources online about improving your sex life, so I’m not going to get into it here. All I’ll say is that loving sex and loving sex with him helps a relationship a lot, and is something that shouldn’t be ignored.
I don’t know about you guys, but I hardly ever meet guys in regular life situations. You may have noticed that most of the dating escapades I tell you about are of the online persuasion. Which is fine, and I’ll continue to try that angle, but it would be nice once in a while to just meet a guy the old-fashioned way, right? (By old-fashioned I mean like, at a bar. Not an arranged marriage or anything.)
I agree with this article mostly a few things I don’t agree with but everyone has there own opinion. I haven’t been single since I was 14 and let me tell you 14 and 15 I didn’t have anyone to be that serious with me because I acted to tomboyish I thought that was what guys liked plus I was still pretty imature. Before I go any further, I just wanted to say yes I sometimes think to myself I wish I would of gave single a chance more often in my life instead of being so young and boy crazy but I wouldn’t take it back any of it because it did make me learn what type of man I wanted after dating boys, it made me realize what type of man I wanted in the long run. I turned 16 I started to act more cute, flirty and girly and I started to get the guys I wanted instantly. Now I am 23 and I have the man of my dreams he is HOT! caring sweet understanding and still at the same time very manly I love it I never thought this kind of man existed I thought men like him were too snooty and had there eyes closed so why would they notice a women like me. I was always a social butterfly. 6 months ago I found this man and I couldn’t believe how he just fell completly head over heels for me. I am alot more girly now adays where I am flirty but with him smiling and laughing all the time and I show my girly side, but I also love to go fishing and out doorsy and don’t mind doing guy things with him and he really loves that about him. He is very thoughtful on top of being a hottie I have always had men be rude to me in my past maybe because I have a little insecurity or just need someone to talk to so I’d call a best friend to talk or my mom so I could talk and wouldn’t make them mad. Now I have a partner who is my best friend and the person I need to talk with and it’s fantastic. If I feel a little insecure he’s loving to me he understands I am just afraid at times the relationships going to disapear or change and it’s because it still feels like a dream because he is my dream come true so it’s like I just feel as if anyone pinches me to wake me up from this dream I am going to rip there heads off he he jk lol! but seriously I couldn’t believe I am the first women he has ever moved in with because he’s never been this serious with anyone where he wanted a life with them and that makes me feel very lucky since he has been with a various of women and could of chose any of them but its like once he found me he knew exactly what he wanted a family a life time with me. so like I said I believe this article because I have lived it.
And, I mean that. If humanity is such a junkpile, then, why bother? Because, all you’re really saying, all this Care Bears in Love-*article* says, is that some peoples’ Hatred and Anger and Emotional Murder is offensive and unacceptable, and others’ Hatred and Anger and Emotional Murder, is really not so bad. That’s the message, The Actual Message, of “don’t expect perfection”…which, of course, then becomes a new buzzphrase for “settling”.
But the research did not stop there. What psychologists discovered is that underneath the simplicity, we men can be surprisingly complicated. We want women, yes, and we want sex. But we don’t always want a slender frame and sharp curves. Sometimes we want a good personality. And a good romantic comedy. And to cuddle. This is laboratory science talking—not Hallmark or four martinis.
One “striking” finding, to borrow the report’s own word, was a very strong connection between a man’s relationship satisfaction and his frequency of physical intimacy. Not physical intimacy as in sex, but physical intimacy as in kissing, cuddling, and general, not necessarily sexual, caressing. The odds of a man being happy in his relationship increased by a factor of three if he snuggled up regularly.
In other words, saying you value physical attractiveness doesn’t make you more likely to feel a spark with those you consider physically attractive, the researchers report in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. “When men say they care about physical attractiveness more than women, what that should mean is that attractiveness buys you more romantic desirability if you’re a woman than if you’re a man,” says Eastwick, now at Texas A&M University. “Our study showed that in fact that wasn’t the case.”
A subsequent study led by Eastwick confirmed that men don’t always recognize what they want in a woman. The researchers asked male participants to list a few traits they like in a lady. Then some of them had a brief, live interaction with a female who matched these interests, while others had a similar interaction with someone who didn’t.
Give places and things you associate with past relationships a new meaning. Have a girls’ night at the restaurant that reminds you of an ex, hold an impromptu dance party to “our song” or curl up with a date to that movie you thought you could never watch again.
Take care of your personal hygiene. Smelling fresh and appearing clean is something that will help you attract other people. Remember to bathe every day, wear underarm deodorant, and to keep your nails clipped and clean.[10] Having bad personal hygiene is a huge turnoff for most people, so make sure to keep it in mind while you’re looking for a mate.[11]
Those are essentially your two choices though… Learn to see when your emotions are misleading you and use logic. OR, find someone who is both more suited to be a relationship partner and can trigger those emotions in you.
Perfume is actually something that a lot of women over do. Most men do not like very strong perfume. You’re better off sticking with something very light and being very conservative with how much you spray.
Guys LOVE confident, independent women. Just remember not to be OVERLY independent or you’ll make him feel like he’s not needed. The trick is to find a balance between making your man feel needed without making him feel like you’re clinging to him.
To me, it’s a numbers game. If you see a girl that you like, then go over and strike up a conversation, period. If she’s not into you, fine, you may feel stupid for a few mins, but atleast you went to bat. Better than watching her walk away and wondering if…
As a general rule of thumb, if your walk has become a waddle, you’ve gone too far. If you have no other problems and yet walking or standing hurts your joints or back, you may be too fat to be attractive to most men (and nobody is saying you have to be).
I’ll do anything to make my wife/girlfriend happy, and in return I want to be loved. This is not a deal! This is what I call connection (mutual or whatever!) For a man having romance, being appreciated, being respected, … means nothing if he doesn’t feel to be loved.
Just wondering…should women be like this from the get-go? What if the guy still has to prove himself – should we still be accepting, respectful etc? What if the guy we’re seeing doesn’t show us that he’s worth our time – shouldn’t we just be clear with where he went wrong (bullet points, sock puppets, whatever men understand lol), and move on if he’s unable to provide what we need?
Tip #4: Be easy to approach, hard to obtain. Although we’re torn on whether playing hard to get is a good thing or not—for the record, Adam says that men DO want a challenge when it comes to winning you over—it’s common sense that most men are terrified to make the move. So save the challenge for later, Adam advises: “Make it easy for them, open up your body, make eye contact and give them the clear signal that it’s cool to break the ice. One the ice is broken, now you can tease him, test him and make him work for it…just the way he likes it.”
The kindle version is only $9, and if this book was sent to the top of the charts on Amazon or on various best selling booklists it would send a massive wake-up call to the culture about men and their opinions and feelings in the dating game rather than Kay Hymowitz’s bullshit “Manning Up” or Hanna Rosin’s even worse “The End of Men.”
So if you want to attract a man and make him desire you, you just need to get his attention the right way. And the rest, as they say, is history! [Read: 22 ways to get a guy’s attention in any circumstance]
You are welcome, Sam. I will only add that I have had no objection to moving out of the way, from time to time, but it is always nice if the man moves. In addition, my office building has 22 floors. It is customary for the men to allow the women to enter and exit from the elevator before they do. It is just one of those very nice pleasantries which I appreciate very much. Often, I will murmur a quick, “Thank You” to the man or men.
Dress to kill. Dress in clothes that make you feel sexy. You don’t have to look like a tramp, just keep in mind the styles that are attractive to men. Wear feminine clothing that accentuates your figure and hugs your body just right. Use the colors red or pink to your advantage; remember, men are visual.
Sure, men see themselves as superior, even though they are willing to give up a good amount of their day because they want to provide for their family/wife. Also, It is very abusive to give women flowers and chocolates, and pay for dates, and do chivalrous things. (before women didn’t want chivalry anymore) All men ask in return for doing all this is for a woman to show love, gratefulness, and nurturing. Yeah, that’s so selfish and abusive. Call the excessive love police.
3. Music Clubs. Next Saturday night take a bunch of your girlfriends to a nightclub that hosts local bands. You’ll find them right up on stage: clusters of men, pouring their hearts out, trying to impress you. But don’t get too seduced by musical talent. Tortured artists are dazzling on stage, but can be a drag in real life. On the other hand, a nice middle manager (during the day) indulging in some innocent rock-star fantasies (by night) could be just the ticket. The big drawback of music clubs, of course, is that the noise level can make it hard to hold a conversation. But if you say, “Hey, fantastic set!” he’ll hear you.
If a man views you as equal (e.g. being the same as him), then he will treat you like a man and you’ll probably get respect, but you probably won’t get much affection physically or emotionally. You must trust him enough to give up some of your power in the relationship where he is designed to excel. In return, you’ll get a man who will give up some of his own power and allow you to influence him in ways that will establish greater intimacy and closeness over time.
But heightened sensitivity to a woman’s sex drive can be dulled by the mere existence of commitment. Florida State psychologists Saul Miller and Jon Maner report in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology that while single men rate a woman as particularly attractive at her peak fertility, men in a long-term relationship consider her less appealing.
That doesn’t make him a bad person, and it doesn’t make you a bad person. It’s just something to be aware of, and something to take into consideration when you’re having expectations about the future with him.
He feels the need to be around her, and his subconscious mind tries very hard to make her feel protected, comfortable and loved around him. He loses his aggressive stance, the tone of his voice softens down, and his shoulders droop down towards her instead of spreading wide. And before he even gives attraction a second thought, he’d realize that he likes the girl already! [Read: The right way to talk to a guy and make him like you]
Just as our bodily ideals aren’t stuck on the hourglass, neither is our general desire stuck on the body. A survey conducted around the time of the Clark-Hatfield study reported that about a third of men have imagined sexual encounters with more than 1,000 different women. In our minds, at our best, we are not Einstein but Warren Beatty. Swami’s studies support the concept of dynamic attractiveness—the idea that no matter our age or body preference, looks are but a single line of code in a complex algorithm of attraction, alongside others defining sense of humor, core beliefs, personality, and more.
The solution – honest self-appraisal. It is important for people to know the worth of their contributions in a relationship, as well as the worth of what they desire in return. The two should be roughly equal. This does not have to be an exact tit-for-tat exchange. Nevertheless, the scales should be somewhat balanced to avoid hard feelings and relationship break-down. Relationships that are too one-sided should be avoided. Asking for far more than one is (really) worth should be avoided too.

Closed Minded women bother me.  They know what they know and really couldn’t care a spit about a differing opinion.  I was on a date one time with this gal who was Persian, we were having a great time.  Then I told her about a friend of mine who is Iranian and as soon as I said what region she was from; culturally divisive spew erupted from this girl’s mouth.  I couldn’t believe it!  No common ground could be reached, she was beside herself just denigrating my friend’s regional culture… I couldn’t get over it, our date ended shortly there after.  Closed Mindedness and self imposed ignorance are two bad tastes that were never made to go together.
Whatever you do, be natural. After all, you really do have to smooth that skirt or adjust the strap of your high heels. Now… can you picture him peering at you out of the corner of his eye, his eyebrow raised in awareness, curiosity… and desire? Of course you can. Now we’re getting somewhere. Whatever preening you do, don’t rush, and don’t look around to see who’s watching. Simply own your space, mind your own business, and smooth away. This is an excellent way to draw men toward you. You are creating anticipation “in the air” and causing him to be pulled toward you.
My boyfriend also used to obssess over me a lot but that has changed, he seems to have gotten himself a life and goes out more often. I feel like I’m the clingy gf left behind. How do I stop this before I drive my bf away?
There’s little doubt that men and women think differently and see the world from two entirely different perspectives. Men expect to be influenced by women when they are in a relationship and they even WANT to be influenced by you, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to go about trying to influence a man if you want to become irresistible to him.
I am an ASIAN woman f, love it not because of anything, love that comes from habit, from the eye to the brain and the mind to the heart, that true love is pure in mind and heart, it is a gift, because it raised an expectation of love and sacrifice, and if do not be afraid to sacrifice love romance, and believe me mate is actually a reflection jiwa.per confident love yourself, do not be hung with the hard work of others, success with hard work and effort, not the passenger name.
A friend and I were talking this morning. He’d set up a date a couple weeks back and I was curious about where they were going but he told me, “It’s going to be tomorrow night instead. She texted me a reschedule.”
Respect yourself. If you say no, he should stop. If he doesn’t stop, leave. Don’t ever be uncomfortable saying no. Don’t go against your morals to try to keep a guy. If you feel this is necessary, then either he’s not a good man, or he is a good one but simply isn’t a good match for you specifically (e. g. he is currently “playing the field” and is up front and honest about it, but you’re looking for an exclusive relationship). Don’t be uncomfortable saying yes, either. If you feel the time is right, believe in your worth and don’t worry that you’re “giving yourself away.” You respect yourself and you’re confident that he’ll come back for more! A man who doesn’t respect you in the morning never properly respected you to begin with, and a man who doesn’t respect your wishes to wait is too impatient to make a good partner. Either way, find someone else.
The male and female sexes still play games to win each other’s affection. Human males still like to woo a female through their display of brute strength, dexterity or their sheer awesomeness. And a man laden with male hormones wants a woman who’s graceful and feminine, because subconsciously, it makes him feel more like a man.

Men and women are desperate for uniqueness, a person with independent thoughts, not a receiver or followers of the news and trends, someone who can analyse things and come up with their her own conclusions.
In his book, Get the Guy, Matthew Hussey—Cosmopolitan columnist, Today show dating expert, motivational speaker, relationship guru, and matchmaker—reveals the secrets of the male mind and the fundamentals of dating and mating for a proven, revolutionary approach to help women to find lasting love.
His profile had described his marital status as “separated,” which I took to mean living separately. When the truth came out, that phrase actually meant that he and his wife sometimes “separated” when she was in the kitchen directing the staff while he was in the den writing to women.
