Anyway, again, you were cheating — even with a guy who you’re not all that sexually attracted to. There’s never an attraction measuring stick to determine whether it’s cheating or not. You wouldn’t have wanted the same situation on your LD Boyfriend’s end. At all.
So we males articulate our desires with the precision of a leaf-blower. That may not help our Match.com profiles, but it does support the legend of male complexity. Sociologist Rebecca Plante of Ithaca College says it’s a massive oversimplification to think that a man’s sexual desire is “as plain as the erection in his pants.” Plante has been leading part of a national, multi-campus, quantitative, and qualitative study of some 14,000 college students, organized by sociologist Paula England at Stanford, on the culture of hooking up. What Plante has found so far defies all simple expectations: While some guys do view sex and desire as one and the same, many others—even those in the early stages of a casual engagement—want someone they know and trust on a deeper level.
The solution – getting over the past and learning to see clearly. Not everybody out there is a jerk, no matter what has happened in the past. In fact, most people are decent and looking for love. Rather than expecting the worst, it is more productive to look for what is different and better. That is the only way to find it!
Don’t be clingy. This means, don’t show that you love this person by being near them all the time. They need their space and they need to know that you don’t need to follow them everywhere they go. Most of all, they need to know that you have your own life.
Response: What good is accepting something that is a failure? How effective is bringing out the best in something that is a failure? No one is perfect nor can someone be perfect. Listen, turn him into what you want him to be, but, do it right. The process won’t always work because some people are to ignorant to believe that they should be better for you, but if they are willing, then it is possible. The thing is you aren’t perfect either, but relationships are all about two individuals benefiting each other. This means that you both are going to mold each other, although, one may be making more of an impact than the other.
Do nice things for them. Think about their desires and what makes them happy, and go out of your way to do it for them. This could be a day at the spa, a new pair of shoes, or a note that you leave for him at his house. Think of what he would like and do it. Small things will add up over time and will help you create a mutual appreciation for one another.
Listen to the way he talks to you, also his body communication. Try to find things in common to keep a conversation going. Men always love a girl or guy who could just be themself around him, and in public.
The solution – looking for a good partner, not a perfect one. There are simply better and worse partners out there. Some are more fit for a relationship than others. There is not, however, a “perfect and unique fit” for each of us. The best that can be hoped for is finding a reasonably-compatible person, who will be willing to cooperate, and working with them to create a mutually-satisfying exchange. Yes, this is far less romantic…but it works!
Similarity to his mom: Trust me, if there is Megan Fox and if there is a girl who is similar to his mom, he would rather give up the former. Maybe because right from the childhood they saw their moms as the epitome of a perfect woman, that they desire women similar to them.
Now I am not saying to go out in stripper heels and a nonexistent dress that shows almost your entire body. Unless this is what you like and it makes you feel good, but don’t do that because you think it’s going to make men more attracted to you.
More often than we know, some of our habits are encouraging his indifference rather than his interest. So, before we begin, first know that we all do certain things unconsciously. Sometimes our mannerisms and ways of being act against us. Consequently, you must ask yourself, “What is it that I might be doing unknowingly to keep men at bay?”
The book is described as providing dating tips that still let *you* be *you*, and don’t require any gamesmanship to meet and keep a quality man; neither claim turns out to be true. In a nutshell, the book’s how-to can be boiled down to this:
Too much, or badly applied, make-up – If we can notice it, it’s too much. A natural look will always win the day. And the worst thing is those lines on a girl’s jaw line when she hasn’t applied the foundation properly. I once went on a first date with a girl who had flaky bit of make-up on the bridge of her nose between the eyes. It was like kissing a pasty.
Both of these biases lead to bad dating. Either the dater expects to fail, or they expect the other person to be awful. Neither of these biases allows them to truly “see” a good partner – or have the motivation to get them. So, such a biased individual either “settles for less” or stays alone and grumpy.
They want a woman who answers questions honestly, and perhaps even volunteers information. They want a woman who confidently asks for her wants and needs to be met. They want a woman who can see the truth and tell it like it is while communicating with kindness. Men want a woman who can communicate without being too critical, and who cares about preserving his and her dignity. Women think men want them to be superficial, to keep quiet about their needs or wants, and never to ask for anything. Women think men believe them to be too needy and too sensitive, and that men simply want women to get over it. Some women believe they do not have the permission to tell it like it is, that they will be rejected for speaking up.
Shankman is set to have a huge year ahead of him, as sources tell Variety that after production wraps on “What Men Want,” the director plans on segueing over to the “Enchanted” sequel, “Disenchanted” with Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey expected to return.
It’s because it’s a difficult process if your social circle is really thin. A guy has to face rejection. He has to get comfortable with it. When a guy is 100% comfortable, and has no hesitation about the concept of rejection — he has no problem with the singles/dating scene. Of course, getting to that point is not easy.
A book which is founded on ideas about good communication & keeping integrity is one whose advice I feel I can trust & recommend. It has a “win-win” approach that doesn’t degrade men or women – how to get what you desire/need while giving someone else what they desire/need too. Building mutually satisfying relationships is the goal, not manipulating your dream man into marrying you (blech – what an idea!).
Being Strong: We have heard enough women scream that they are strong, independent and yet depend on us for every little thing. Don’t be a big baby, try being a Lady. If you can take care of yourself, it is a Big plus. Strong women Command respect, and with respect you attract the right kind of men.

“I think one of the biggest myths that has been perpetuated by some evolutionary psychologists—though not all—is that there is one ‘man,’ or ‘men,’ with universal behaviors,” says psychologist Viren Swami of the University of Westminster in London. “In most socioeconomically developed societies, there is—not surprisingly—a preference for relatively slender women. In many developing societies, on the other hand, the ideal female body size is heavier.” That may be little solace to some Western women, but as Swami has found, even Western males demonstrate malleability in figure preference.
i also totally agree with that article. This person totally understands us men and i just have to say to all the girls here who disagree is that you don´t have to accept the fact that you have to behave different from usual but they should accept the fact that that´s how men are. We just like these kind of girls and even though i don´t hate girls who are self confident i wouldn´t want to date a girl who isn´t the least bit feminin. It´s the same for girls. Girls also have tipical imaginations of how a boy should be and we boys just have to accept this fact wether we like it or not. I just think it´s funny that the girls on this site don´t want to accept it but on the contrary won´t accept a boy for what he is.
Tip #1: Show them pearly whites. Adam’s first tip is a simple and easy one–smile at the guy you’re hoping will approach you. He say, “Men are total wusses when it comes to approaching women. If they don’t feel confident that you want them to come over, then they’ll almost never make the move.” Evidently, male clients are always asking how to be sure that a woman actually wants them to come over, and Adam advises that a smile gives them “a solid 80% chance” since “there is no 100% certainty when it comes to dating”. If you take the tiny little initiative to smile his way, it will encourage him to make a move.
Communicate effectively and honestly. Communication is one of the most critical aspects of maintaining a healthy relationship with someone. Even if you aren’t serious with the person you’re seeing, it’s important to have open communication with them. Don’t hold anything back. If they do something that annoys you, have a conversation with them about it. Communicating effectively entails getting things off your chest while still staying sensitive to their feelings.
Hi Sam…So glad you liked the article. Flipping the hair, in conjunction with smiling and eye contact may indicate mild flirting. But hair flipping alone does not indicate interest. Some women are overly obsessed with appearance, and as such, may have developed the hair flipping thing as a nervous habit. Long story short, it depends upon the rest of her body language.
Don’t hang out 1-on-1 with a guy “friend”, especially if you’re not that into him and he is into you. And even moreso if you have a boyfriend! It’s your yearning for attention & appreciation as an attractive, wanted woman that makes you feed off that.
[…] always curious to hear the opinions of guys when it comes to dating.  In my last guest blog post, I asked the amazing, hilarious and insightful dating bloggers Jack From Brooklyn, Fishy, The Urban […]
You’ve finally emerged. Like a phoenix from the ashes (or a sloth from the duvet). You’ve crawled out from a haze of Netflix-binging and takeaway food and you’re ready to get back into the world like a normal person.
Flirting is much like a smile. It lets a man know you’re interested. It tells a man you accept him and are pleased with him. It makes a man feel at ease around you, thereby making you more approachable and increasing the chance a guy will ask you out.
Northwestern University psychologists Paul Eastwick and Eli Finkel recently arranged a speed-dating event for 163 university guys and gals and had them indicate beforehand what they wanted in a mate: attractiveness, earning potential, or personality qualities. The men—no surprise—overwhelmingly said they wanted looks. But when they got to the table something changed. Eastwick and Finkel discovered that pre-event ideals failed to predict a person’s true romantic interests.
Quirks: Every person has a quirk. And your quirk may make you more adorable. Maybe how your twirl your hair when thinking, twitch your eyes when nervous, or the way you sigh cutely……those do attract men who aren’t looking for plastic toys to play with.
Men don’t care about perfection. It’s a binary scale. Attractive or not. Given that our species currently still exists and continues to grow, you should be able to surmise that “attractive” is very attainable. There is never any reason to starve yourself.
Hi FlourishAnyway. Thank you for sharing the hub! I’m happy that you enjoyed that particular section–about owning your space. It really does pay off where men are concerned, but I will say that sometimes some “petty” women will get a little catty about it…but that’s there problem and not ours. As always, I appreciate your insight about the positive and confident signals we send out.
Girls who always think of things – I like girls who always make provisions. Girls who carry brollies (because there’s nothing worse than my hair getting wet), girls who keep tissues in their handbag, and girls who remember to remind me about their birthdays (and my mum’s).
I’ve been looking into things to keep my marriage solid, and I figured I should keep him attracted to me. I ended up here. You reminded me of just how important confidence is! He used to tell me all the time when we started dating how much he loved my confidence. Love these tips! 🙂
So let’s say your guy is having a hard time and needs some time alone, but you really want him to be open and honest with you and want him to share his feelings. Respecting him entails putting what’s best for him above what you want. In this case, it would be giving him the space to work through his issues even though you would prefer that he talk to you about it, because that’s what’s going to be most beneficial for him.
Bring your “me” time back to the top of your priority list. Set personal goals (separate from your New Year’s resolutions!) and stick to ’em. Whether you’re focusing on toning your abs or taking new risks with your hairstyles, as 27-year-old New Yorker Sara says, “There is nothing more gratifying than running into him later and having him say, ‘Wow, you look great.'”
Well, with five brothers in your life, some of this stuff might seem “unique”….but it’s really quite universal—though less so nowadays. However, it’s all great fun! Here’s to our feminine side. Nice to have you stop by Jewels. (Great name)
Be approachable to them — don’t make them think you like them. Take it easy and flirt a little. Or even maybe ask if he’s interested in boys. If he says no, move on. If he says yes, maybe even ask him on a date or kiss him.
To start, you must rid your mind of (or at least become aware of) the perception biases you currently have about men. According to Bob Grant, “A perception bias is where you see something based on your own way of thinking, and you then impose that belief onto other people or situations.” Common perception biases many women have about men are:
My friend Marla used to believe that meeting a man was as easy as following her bliss. After she and her long-term boyfriend broke up, Marla decided to pursue the interests she had neglected when she was in a relationship. She took acting lessons, joined a book club, and became devoted to yoga.
Treat him with respect. This is the most important thing of all. Men hate being around someone who emasculates them, and a good man won’t take long to leave such a person. Don’t be afraid to help your man feel good about himself. A little known secret is that men are just as insecure as women. If he’s with his friends or family be open to opportunities to let your man look like “the man”. It will win his love and respect.
If you want to get a gal, then you need to be a bit more secure and social. Women generally like lovers who are confident. That means they notice someone who makes eye contact, walks around, takes up space, and is playful and physical. So, if you want her to notice you, brush up on your body language. Practice eye contact, relax your posture, and have fun with friends. Then, you will see a lot more women looking (and smiling) back!
