Hi FlourishAnyway. Thank you for sharing the hub! I’m happy that you enjoyed that particular section–about owning your space. It really does pay off where men are concerned, but I will say that sometimes some “petty” women will get a little catty about it…but that’s there problem and not ours. As always, I appreciate your insight about the positive and confident signals we send out.
Have you ever found yourself coming home from a tough day at work, only to find your husband sitting on the couch, watching TV, with nary a scrap of food in sight (let alone a scented bath drawn for you)? And instead of getting angry, have you then found yourself cooking dinner, folding a few loads of laundry, and picking up your kids’ toys—all while he finishes up his Monday Night Football viewing session?
The type of woman that I would want emotionally, a feminine woman who is grateful, nurturing, etc, is not exactly compatible with “independent woman”. The type of woman I’d want for a life partner isn’t compatible with an independent woman’s ideals.
When the roles were reversed in the 1989 Clark-Hatfield study and men were doing the sexual offering, about half the women accepted the date. Very, very few agreed to come over that night. Not a single one agreed to go to bed. “You’ve got to be kidding,” was a common reply. “What is wrong with you?” was another. Some things haven’t changed much in the recent past, and aren’t likely to: In replications of the experiment, albeit on paper, researchers have consistently found that men are far more likely than women to accept the casual sexual offer.
A man has two primary gifts he can offer a woman: his ability to protect and provide. So if he is willing to risk his life to protect yours and invest his time, talent and treasure in order provide for you, all he really wants is a little gratitude in return.
Now, I had found this article when I was looking up what women want from men, and guess what? The results were disappointing. I could tell the men who wrote the articles I had came across were only taking into account specific stereotypes of women, and it made me cringe a bit how pathetic the articles actually were.
The kindle version is only $9, and if this book was sent to the top of the charts on Amazon or on various best selling booklists it would send a massive wake-up call to the culture about men and their opinions and feelings in the dating game rather than Kay Hymowitz’s bullshit “Manning Up” or Hanna Rosin’s even worse “The End of Men.”
Every man produces testosterone, a sexual hormone, in his testes. And women produce a small amount of testosterone in their ovaries. The more testosterone a man produces, the more manly he looks and the more sexually virile he is. His facial features appear manlier, his jaws are wider and more chiseled and his voice is deeper.
Closed Minded women bother me. They know what they know and really couldn’t care a spit about a differing opinion. I was on a date one time with this gal who was Persian, we were having a great time. Then I told her about a friend of mine who is Iranian and as soon as I said what region she was from; culturally divisive spew erupted from this girl’s mouth. I couldn’t believe it! No common ground could be reached, she was beside herself just denigrating my friend’s regional culture… I couldn’t get over it, our date ended shortly there after. Closed Mindedness and self imposed ignorance are two bad tastes that were never made to go together.
However, some people don’t pick such balanced relationships. Some repeatedly sell themselves short, giving way more than they get. In the end, these people often feel cheated, unappreciated, and used. Others repeatedly over-estimate their worth, asking for too much. They too end up feeling frustrated, when no one will meet their unrealistic expectations. Thus, both under-valuing and over-valuing one’s self leads to repeated problems in love.
Please re-read point 1 in the article and the article cited under it. The problem isn’t with the guy who is close in distance. The problem is that you feel “emotionally and sexually drawn” to your long-distance bf because he is scarce and unattainable. Essentially, your emotions are being “tricked” by the long-distance situation to be more intense than they really are. If the situation was reversed, with your bf being close and your friend living far away, you would “desire” the friend and be less interested in your bf. Feeling strong desire for someone “hard to get” is a big issue.
Fidelity is an absolute must. In fact, men want a woman who does not have a “roaming eye” and who can wholeheartedly commit to the relationship. Many may define commitment as fidelity plus the willingness to work on the relationship — even when the going gets tough. Women think that all men want is sex, and that men will leave a relationship for the next prettier face. Women think men cannot be trusted to be faithful. Women believe men do not want to work on a relationship, and that when the going gets tough, they run.
4. Business Conferences. If you’ve been meaning to do some meet-and-greets as a way of boosting your career, here’s some added incentive: Business conferences and seminars are filled with smart, ambitious men with whom you can talk shop. “Strike up a conversation around your mutual business interests, then ask ‘How did you get to where you are today?’ You’ll learn about his path of life so far, including education and goals,” says Nina Atwood, author of Be Your Own Dating Service: A Step-by-Step Guide to Finding and Maintaining Healthy Relationships (Henry Holt, 1996). Just be sure to check his left hand for a ring or tell-tale tan line. “Business events often include a certain number of men who are looking for an extra-marital fling,” says Atwood.
I loved this I have been doing allot of research on how to people have that certain quality that attracts men and think this is the most helpful. Many websites make you watch an hour long video to find out in the end that you have to pay money for the real secrets which is not right. This gives you simple steps with an effect. Thanks for some great tips! 🙂
“There’s an interesting and complex relationship between how committed a man is and how actively he’ll try to avoid tempting sexual alternatives,” says Maner. “As one example: Men sometimes automatically avert their gaze from tempting alternatives, and they do so without even having to think about it.” Maybe that indifference some men show in the presence of attractive women on New York City sidewalks isn’t affected at all. Maybe it’s affection remembered.
I’ll preface this by saying the few dating/relationship books I’ve flipped through or read descriptions for often come across as very condescending to women. This is especially true if meant to unveil the “male mind” and give it to us straight – the “ugly truth” type of stuff. They make women feel bad for being women. You come away from just one little paragraph feeling like men essentially don’t like women (beyond the physical). We’re told we need to be more feminine, but also think like men, less clingy, but not too independent – etc. Here is a book which focuses less on how women need to change their nature, needs, desires, etc, as if we’re hopelessly incompatible with men by nature, and instead it focuses on social skills & positive thinking modes for attracting & developing relationships with compatible men we actually like & who are worth OUR time & energy.
I love both of these men, but the guy out of state is the one I feel emotionally and sexually drawn to. I know, on paper, that it makes much more sense to date the local man, but I don’t feel those feelings for him. So how does one make logical choices when faced with intense emotional feelings? I can’t see myself dating my local friend when I don’t feel sexually or emotionally attracted to him, but I worry that I don’t have those feelings for him because there’s something wrong with me.
The quickest solution to finding a man really is to focus on handling the other areas of your life and having a lifestyle that you really enjoy. When you do this, you’ put yourself in control of your own happiness and will effortlessly attract great men into your life.
Day after day, as I hear single women bemoan the lack of available men, I wish ethics allowed me to set them up with my wonderful male clients who are searching, with equal frustration, for the right woman. Instead, I end up simply witnessing singles of both sexes failing to find each other. I believe this failure has much to do with the model of love-seeking most popular in our culture: the idea of romantic pursuit as a type of predation, a hunting expedition the goal of which is capture. In my experience, the way of thinking that leads to successful relationships is altogether different. It’s focused on the idea that the way to find love is to become so much yourself that you find others of your own kind, with whom you can share freedom.

Completely, personally I feel perfectly fine being feminine/cute and still maintaining my strengths/including career accomplishments and abilities to work hard in a variety of different fields (that may be labeled more or less masculine or feminine)

Enlist one more super-close friend to be in charge of your online dating life: She answers your messages, picks out guys and sets you up to chat with them. Casey says to have your friend tell the guys, “She’s having a hard time picking the right guys for her, so my New Year’s present to her is that I’m going to be running her online life.” If you want to start fresh Casey says, “That’ll get you started in a great direction.”
If you want to get a guy, then you need to give him a clear invitation. I know he seems big, burly, and scary. But, he is actually looking to you for a “green light” to come over and say hello. Some eye contact and a smile will do that. So, if you want him to approach, lock eyes and give him a grin.
Love yourself. Before you attract a man, you need to love yourself and want the best for yourself. This may seem like common sense, but it’s an important aspect that many people forget before dating. If you can’t see your self-worth, then others will have a hard time seeing it as well.
Being clean is obviously important and goes without saying in terms of smelling good; drenching yourself in perfume is not. One thing most men agree upon is that women’s hair normally smells amazing from all the shampoo products and stuff. The point is less is more.
The solution – getting over the past and learning to see clearly. Not everybody out there is a jerk, no matter what has happened in the past. In fact, most people are decent and looking for love. Rather than expecting the worst, it is more productive to look for what is different and better. That is the only way to find it!
Other than the anti-feminist rants, this article provides nothing of substance. Just poorly understood evopsych mumbo jumbo. Women don’t have curves because the body has energy to waste, we have curves because they facilitate childbirth and nursing. And if you’re going to claim women don’t know how to be feminine, try offering some suggestions about how to do so. Oh you don’t know? Cause youre full of shit?? OK
Treatment: The most important. How you treat people around you, your opinions and your behavior matter to them. Treating him respectfully and sweetly, if not flirting at the first conversation, makes a very good impression upon them. So if you like the guy, just don’t come into bitch-mode. Most probably he will run far and never come back. *damn those romcoms showing this shit*
A man of quality and intrigue can sense the inconsistent energy of a woman who is faking it. He will never trade his loaf of bread for her crumbs. He wants a partner who is on his level, and you must invest in yourself as he has done himself.
A guy may think a girl is attractive. But in his subconscious mind, he’s gauging you as the woman who may carry his offspring one day. [Read: Evolution and the parts of a woman’s body that has the biggest impact on men]
“This works, period. No sugar-coating, no gimmicks, no cheesy lines: Matt’s advice is practical, sometimes blunt, and most importantly, effective. You WILL get the guy after reading this, end of story!” (Louise Roe, fashion journalist, TV host)
I would also suggest developing an additional “social” personal hobby. Depending on your current interests, perhaps there are some aspects of your hobbies now that could be more social (e.g. interest groups, meet-ups, conventions, etc.). That can be a good way to practice being more social and expand your friendship network. Perhaps you will find love that way. Or perhaps, you will make a good friend who will introduce you to his sister, cousin, girlfriend’s friend, etc. Networking works just as well in love as it does in business. A good referral goes a long way too 🙂
What guys find attractive about women is their positive spirit. This spirit manifests through your smile. Whether you have the perfect pearl white teeth or not it doesn’t matter, when you have an honest smile it radiates and attracts a man immediately.
Initially, you might not feel confident with the idea of taking up any extra space, but it doesn’t really matter—just act like you do anyway. Eventually your discomfort will disappear. Just keep your chin up, and most people will not suspect your anxiety. In any event, it is natural to feel a bit of shyness in taking up your given space when you first begin practicing this important art of attraction. The good news is, in time you won’t even remember why your once felt any nervousness about owning your space. So begin now. I encourage you to first learn to appreciating any small, but pleasurable detail about your surroundings—the crispness in the air, the smell of herbs in your food, the beauty of a clear sky, whether you are surrounded by a plethora of people or none at all.
Some women are completely unafraid to take control and others like to be dominated. The point is to find what you feel comfortable with and realize that some men will be extremely attracted to you and these particular aspects of your personality.
Girls who always think of things – I like girls who always make provisions. Girls who carry brollies (because there’s nothing worse than my hair getting wet), girls who keep tissues in their handbag, and girls who remember to remind me about their birthdays (and my mum’s).
People are on prescription drugs too much, yes. And many people will get an infection of some sort stemming from sex, yes. Although the latter is blown out of proportion, as pretty much anyone who doesn’t live a traditional Mormon lifestyle is going to stumble upon a benign version of HPV, and many will get a general UTI. You can look at it through the “scare lens”, sure.
For busy professionals, it can also be beneficial to meet people along your daily routine. Learn to be social as you go about your day. Start a conversation with women as you ride the subway, get your morning coffee, walk into work, hit the gym, etc. Although it takes a bit of courage and practice, meeting people in this way almost always assures that you have some commonality to build on (they like to work out, they work or live on your block, they like coffee too, etc.). By “planning” to approach and make conversation with desirable partners, you are taking control of the process…and not relying on the luck of a chance encounter.
Don’t be afraid to make a move. Let’s be real: a good man doesn’t desperately need any person; he would like to meet a good person. If he’s a good man, he will appreciate the compliment to his attractiveness, at the very least. But remember that compliments are usually given to acquaintances – people who are intimate usually have a more honest connection, with playful teasing and banter. Think of good relationships between brothers and sisters, parents and children, especially couples – they’re always joking, laughing, teasing, flirting in a positive way. A woman who is always complimenting may simply be boring and look desperate. Even if you are old-fashioned and never want to be the woman who asks a man for a date, you can still go out of your way to talk to him, and arrange to be with him. Don’t overdo this, however; unless he is already attracted to you before the encounter, the more obvious it is that you’ve put a ton of time into the encounter without his direct encouragement, the more desperate and less attractive you look. Work on building attraction first.
