Now when it comes to “getting” your man, there is one thing you must not do if you want a man to see a future with you. Do not treat him like some kind of project that needs to be fixed because it immediately brings up the walls. If you have the urge to try to change his clothes, his circle of friends, the way he talks, what he loves to do — don’t do it!
Not really knowing oneself is most of the time the common mistake of women. we tend to be someone we’re really not because we want to attract some guy. in the end, we don’t get what we want because we were too busy being somebody else in the process.
I have been known to “own my space” by plopping on the floor in the midst of hundreds of commuters, laptop in lap, typing away obliviously. Savvy, what say you to this? Sure way to never get a good guy, or excusable city dweller behavior ?
Jade….So very glad you found this article at this crucial time in your life. How kind of you to call it “brilliant.” I am flattered. But I hear you. I was used to plenty of attention as well. In my case, I started getting “older,” so I had to remind myself of all the things I had been doing differently than a fair amount of other ladies. The good news? Those things still work. Ha!
First off, you have to be sure your friend is gay or bi, or he won’t want to have sex with you at all. If that’s the case, communication is key. Be frank and serious about it, but also make sure he knows that you’ll be gentle and let him set the pace. Make sure he feels safe, secure, and relaxed with you.
And when men were asked to choose which of the film’s scenes they’d like to enact, 40 percent chose a romantic encounter (read: kissing or caressing without intercourse) while another 15 percent chose an intimate conversation. Only 20 percent chose a full-on sex scene. We may have 1,000 or so sexual fantasies, but only in some of them are we the cable guy who arrives just as you’re getting out of the shower. In others we’re Paul Rudd.
But some things have changed. One re-creation of the classic study, which was conducted by an international group of researchers and published in Human Nature, found that men are much more likely to date a woman than they had been in 1989. Although the updated study was conducted on paper, not in person, it included a larger and more diverse population of men, and it varied the attractiveness of the sex solicitor. More men were willing to date a “slightly unattractive” woman than were willing to sleep with an “exceptionally attractive” woman, 87 percent to about 82.

Be fun, in ways that men think are fun. This rule of attraction seems simple enough, but so many girls get it wrong. Don’t be too much of a stereotypical “girl.” Be able to let your hair down and tell jokes, watch sports, play video games or poker with him and try to enjoy the things that he enjoys. He’s not interested in holding your purse while you shop. Nor does he care what happened on last week’s episode of Days of Our Lives. Hang out at sports bars with him. He’ll want you even more.

Other individuals rely on luck, fate, or destiny. Because they believe the process is more-or-less out of their hands, they may not put much work into it. They might not look hard. They might not build themselves up to be better people and more valuable partners. Instead, they may believe someone will simply be their “soul mate” and “love them exactly as they are”.
I appreciate that this book is about subtle nuances too. Often we don’t know what we do wrong because it’s not anything big but a subtle signal, and we don’t know why our positive signals are ignored & that’s because they are TOO subtle. This advice rang true because I’ve noted men in general communicate more with action & are generally MORE sensitive than women, meaning they need LOUDER positive signals & SOFTER negative ones. The author refers to this as the “fragile male ego” which is really SENSITIVITY.
In order to figure out how to make things happen off the Internet, I spoke to expert Adam LoDolce, who gives advice to both men and women as “The Dating Confidence Coach”. His new e-book, *The Top 5 Reasons Why Quality Guys Are NOT Approaching You (and How to Change That) *) deals with the subject (and can be downloaded for free!) and he agreed to give us his best tips for how get the guys to approach.
If your past relationships have caused you to hold back or put up a wall, then it’s going to be extremely difficult to become an irresistible woman. You’re already at a disadvantage because you’re putting off a vibe that tells men, “I’ll only let you get so close.”
This book doesn’t insult your intelligence, berate you for being a woman, tell you that you have to compromise your values, or leave with some sick feeling that manipulation of men & dishonesty with your own feelings/needs is the “secret”.
Unless you are going to keep all your hair (rarer these days but again this is a total individual preference and there are some guys who do like this so if there’s a man who you know likes this go for it). I would say in general, though, trimming at the very least is a good idea.
Thank you, gk. I think it is good to remain attractive for our husbands and ourselves, for that matter. Men enjoy our femininity. Too many women overlook that, which is why I tried to be specific in sharing some tips. I’m so glad you stopped by to comment. I’ve no doubt your marriage will survive the test of time, and I appreciate your mentioning that it was your confidence that drew him to you and kept him interested..
“Whether you’re in a committed relationship, or you’ve had little luck with men, this book will unravel your man-mystery and put you in control, which seems fair to me, no matter what my husband says.” (Giuliana Rancic, TV host, devoted wife)
What an eye-opener, i hate it when men act desperate with me and yet when I like I guy sometimes I can act so desperate around them and its so true that its caused by panic, from now on all panic is banished!
Response: DO NOT ASSUME ALL MEN ARE NATURAL GIVERS!!! That kind of mindset will screw you over when you’re in a relationship with someone who isn’t. You should be able to discern if your partner wants to meet your needs or if they could care less. Even then, some guys do the bare minimum to keep their partner content with their relationship so they can reap their own desired benefits with ease. Lack of communication with a partner will skew what they think about your condition. They could think you’re fine even though you are insinuating that you aren’t. Just discuss with your partner what you need clearly, if they happen to not comprehend what you’re saying then explain it a different way. If they are annoyed, well they are in the wrong for denying the fact that they must always take you into consideration. Regardless though, some grace must be given instead of flat out disappointment, try to help them understand the values of taking you into account.
Speaking from 38+ years of marriage … I want a woman who takes care of herself for me. The same as I take care of myself for her. A woman who lets herself go once she has landed her man is saying “I’m in this for me alone”. Of course the reverse is true, a man who does not take care of himself for his woman is just as guilty. Ladies and Gentlemen, successful relationships are not 50% / 50% deals, they are 100% / 100% deals. Be committed to giving your 100% all the time.
Go to LGBTQ events and mingle with people. Attending LGBTQ events is a great way to support a cause that you’re passionate about and will give you the ability to meet eligible singles.[1] Choose an event or cause that you can support, and go with a positive mindset to meet new friends and to have fun. Make it a point to get out there and talk to people. If you see someone you’re interested in, go up to them and start a conversation.
Despite what you may think or your past experience — you may never know just how much a man really does want to please you if he is able. In fact, the problems show up when he no longer thinks he can please you. Men are very simple creatures. They demonstrate their value by solving problems and fixing things (and occasionally they may make the mistake of trying to fix you).
A few years ago, Swami and an international group of psychologists led by Martin Tovée of Newcastle University surveyed the female body preferences of men (and women) in the United Kingdom and among the Zulu of South Africa. Participants flipped through a photo booklet of real but blurry-faced women wearing tight gray leotards and rated each one. The Britons gave high marks to slender curves, while the Zulu enjoyed heavier bodies. Then Zulu migrants living in Britain had their turn with the booklets—and chose bodies right in between.
Imperfections: Have to stress the point again, because we are so much obsessed with the cover girls that we forget being organic is being sexy. Almost every guy agrees too much makeup is a turn-off. They want to see some natural beauty in you. The mole is absolutely okay, so is the buck teeth. They tend to associate you with your marks and scars, and it makes you uniquely attractive to them and distinguish you from rest of the crowd.
Insecure men do not like engaging with women who actually like themselves. In a way, this is a good thing—you won’t have to bother with such men because your self confidence will threaten him. Thus, he will fade away into the background, where he belongs. Therefore, it is worthwhile to do some self-tweaking and fine tuning by noticing our habits, whether bad or good, so that we can pare down our habits to those which only give impressions that always work in our favor. The vibes you give out are crucial if your are to pique the interest of a quality man.
It’s all about developing some “Savoir-faire” which literally means, “knowing how to do.” And once you do, you will have no difficulty in getting the attention of desirable men. You don’t have to bend over backwards or flutter your eyelashes to attract him. Rather, you simply have to create a tiny bit of mystique to draw him in.
When the roles were reversed in the 1989 Clark-Hatfield study and men were doing the sexual offering, about half the women accepted the date. Very, very few agreed to come over that night. Not a single one agreed to go to bed. “You’ve got to be kidding,” was a common reply. “What is wrong with you?” was another. Some things haven’t changed much in the recent past, and aren’t likely to: In replications of the experiment, albeit on paper, researchers have consistently found that men are far more likely than women to accept the casual sexual offer.
I also don’t follow what you mean by ‘seeking a partner of equal value’. The fact that most women value men who are violent, abusive, and dysfunctional thugs—or weak, effeminate metrosexual types—illustrates how little most of them value masculinity at all.
I find that I am drawn to women that are creative and artistic; I tend to be a nuts and bolts kind of person, circuit boards and hard drives rule my day.  Having a woman that can make sure I’m getting my appropriate dosages of culture is nice. Sometimes these women are easy to spot; there’s a place I go to called the Gypsy Den and I tell you, these creative female types are all over… Though, they kinda look like they walked out of some sort of hippy people loving commune…
The first step is to change our undesirable habits. We do this by reminding ourselves that we are being noticed, even if for a split second. Frankly, it matters that we emit a positive and interesting vibe. By developing an aura of natural confidence we are also more likely to weed out undesirable men. How so?
Many people, however, go into dating without any clear logic or goals. They lead with their feelings only and then wonder why they don’t get anywhere! Sure, there is something to be said for “enjoying the journey”. However, if a person desires to get somewhere specific (e.g. marriage, kids, etc.), then it is very handy to have a map too! Without one, they tend to drive in circles and, not surprisingly, find themselves with the same partners time after time.
It doesn’t take a psychologist to know what men want. But give a whole lot of them a whole lot of time and you begin to understand the considerable nuance that governs what men want. Some people like pulp in their orange juice, after all.
Be yourself. If you like who you are, then stay that way. Don’t change for other people. The girl who is really worth your while will love you for who you are, what you’ve accomplished in your life, and nothing else.
You need to keep this in mind though, love and attraction are two completely different things. A guy may find you extremely attractive, yet he may not end up falling in love with you for his own reasons. [Read: 20 reasons why a guy may never like you back]
On the other hand, that type of man is not entirely “worthless for everyone”. A woman of equal value may indeed like that type of male. Or, more specifically, they might be a balanced match for her (i.e. the best she can get herself). Again, that is why an honest self-assessment is necessary. Just as not all men can get a brilliant beauty, not all women can catch the eye of a well-muscled, CEO.

Trust builds slowly over time. Once that trust is broken (especially when you get cheated on) it takes even longer to rebuild. Nothing will solve the situation short term. It’s going to take time for you to trust again.
Marla realized that if she wanted to start dating again, she’d have to think a bit more strategically. Because contrary to popular opinion, men are out there. “Here’s a little-known fact: One out of every two people is a guy!” says an exasperated 32-year-old Newark, New Jersey, panelist for Answerology.com, a Web site that aims to bridge the communication gulf between the sexes. With the help of Answerology creator Matt Milner, we’ve asked men from around the country to tell us where the heck they are—and the easiest ways to meet them!
Be yourself. If a man/woman doesn’t like you for who you are, then they need to go be with someone they do like. Maybe you don’t like awkward silences so you fill them in. That’s part of who you are. Maybe you tend to plan it advance, part of who you are, you cant help it. Don’t bother reading or listening to this, people will be attracted to who you really are, not who this guy tells you to pretend to be.
Women are the prime target of marketers, social media and politicians. They had managed to manipulate women’s thoughts bombarding them with the “how to” messages: how to dress to impress, how to walk and talk, how to acquire the ideal body shape, even how to express themselves.
There’s a man locally who I’ve known for awhile (including times that we’ve been lovers), who really loves me, treats me well, and is also not pressuring me to be with him, though he’s made it clear that he’s interested.
there are really no good women to meet anymore as it is since women are so very picky nowadays and can’t accept us men for who we are. oh by the way, i am not a Rich Man since many of you want a man with a very large bank account. Sorry.
It occurred to me after I saw the video, men also play hard to get – well at least they say they do (treat ’em mean, keep ’em keen). Want to make sure have got this right. Would this just be a ‘front’, or self protection from men (as mentioned in previous blogs)? Trying to be ‘super cool’? I tend to give up if I get no response. Sorry if I’m being contrary – just want to know if am on the right lines.
Wanting what we cannot have is a common mental quirk that we all possess. Within the social influence research, this is called “Scarcity” (Cialdini, 2009). Essentially, we are all hard-wired to believe things that are difficult to obtain, or rare, are also valuable and desirable. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes the rare and expensive is truly valuable…other times it is just some junk a person put a high price tag on!
Male stereotypes fail to take into account the importance of what might be called a commitment continuum. At one end are married men, at the other are gigolos, with all shades of monogamous and polygamous moderation in between. The oversight helps perpetuate misunderstandings of what men want.
